title: Adding and editing pieces
description: Every field you can record for a piece of music, grouped by identity, musical details, liturgical use, and inventory.
---

From **Library**, use **Add piece** to create a new piece, or open an existing piece and choose **Edit** to change it. The only required field is **Title** — everything else is optional, so you can add a piece with just a title and fill in details later.

## Deleting a piece

Open the piece and use **Delete** on its detail page. Deleting a piece also removes it from any [collections](/docs/library/collections) it belongs to and from any services or performances that reference it directly (items that only reference it by a custom title are unaffected).

:::note
Deleting a piece that is a [multi-movement work](/docs/library/multi-movement-works) deletes its movements too.
