title: Performances
description: Plan a dated concert or recital program — an ordered list of items, each optionally linked to a piece in your library and a performing group.
---

A **performance** is a dated concert or recital program — a title, a date, a venue, and an ordered list of items. Click **Plan a performance** on the Performances page, enter a title and date, then choose whether to start from a [template](/docs/planning/templates) or build the program manually. The remaining fields — venue, notes — are filled in afterward from the performance's own page.

## Browsing your performances

The **Performances** page lists every performance as a card showing its date and full program, so you can scan what's planned across performances without opening each one. Search filters by title, venue, and any piece or custom title in the program.

## Performance fields

Title, performance date, venue, and notes. Click **Edit details** on the Details card of the performance's own page to change any of these in place — there's no separate edit page.

## Performance items

Each item in a performance's program has:

| Field | Notes |
| --- | --- |
| Role | Free text — e.g. "Solo", "Ensemble", "Intermission". |
| Piece or custom title | Link an existing piece from your library, create a new library piece without leaving the performance, or enter a one-off title with no library link. |
| Group | Optionally assign a [group](/docs/planning/groups) to perform the item. |
| Key | The key it will be performed in, if different from the piece's own recorded key. |
| Performer notes | |

Drag items to reorder the program.

## Starting from a template

When planning a performance, choosing a template of kind "performance" instead of "Create manually" seeds its items with the template's predefined roles and default groups, ready for you to fill in pieces and details.

## Deleting a performance

Deleting a performance removes its items but leaves any linked pieces untouched in your library.
